ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the level of knowledge, attitudes, and skills of farmers in balanced fertilization in rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivation in Kotayasa Village, Sumbang District, Banyumas Regency, Central Java Province. The study was carried out from March to July 2021. The study used a descriptive method on 3 farmer groups, then 30 farmers were taken as respondents by proportional random sampling. Data were collected by means of interviews and questionnaires with measurements using a Likert scale, then the data were analyzed descriptively and based on scores categorized into low, medium, and high levels. The results of the analysis show that the level of knowledge with a percentage of 71.98% belongs to the medium category, the attitude level of 75.25% is included in the medium category, and the skill level of 72.22% belongs to the medium category. The results of the study to develop a design for farmer empowerment on balanced fertilization in lowland rice cultivation with the four principles. An extension was carried out to 21 participants on June 17, 2021. The results of the extension evaluation showed an increase in knowledge of 42.62%.
