Abstract

ABSTRACT The research aimed to determine the motivation farmers including Existence Needs, Relatedness Needs, and Growth Needs to the development of Organic Fertilizer Processing Unit in the Bandung Village, Playen District, Gunungkidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta which was held in November 2020 to July 2021. The method used is a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The sample is determined by saturated sample of 30 samples. The data was obtained by interview then analysed descriptively. The result of data analysis showed that the motivation of farmers in the medium category with a percentage of 64,89%, with the resultin each component is the Extension Needs Component of 172 (57,33%) in the medium category, the Relatedness Needs Component of 209 (69,67%) in the medium category, and the Growth Needs Component of 203 (67,67%) in the medium category. The lowest motivation is in the Extension Needs Component regarding increasing income. The design of empowerment in this study is to increase the motivation of farmers in the Extension Needs Component, the manufacture of compost, with the hope that farmers can make compost in a sustainable manner so that they can be sold an can increase their income.
