ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the physiological motivation, sociological motivation, self-actualization motivation, and farmers motivation in applying fertilization to cassava (Manihot esculenta) with intercropping system in Banyusoco Village, Playen District, Gunungkidul Regency. The study was conducted from November 2020 to July 2021. This study used the mixed method. The sampling technique used is Proportional Random Sampling. Data collection techniques using interview techniques, questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The data from the study are presented descriptively. The results of the study showed that the level of farmers motivation to apply fertilization for cassava plants with intercropping systems was high, namely 82%. By examining several motivational variables, one of the variabel is physiological motivation, it has a moderately motivated category with a moderate level of achievement, namely 65%. The variabel of sociological motivation has a highly motivated category with a high level of achievement, namely 89%. Self-actualization motivation has a highly motivated category with a high level of achievement, namely 95%. The results of the counseling/empowerment show an increase of the pre test results initially achieving a score of 72%, after the material was delivered by filling out the post test it rises up to 98%.
