Abstract This study aims to determine the technology of orchid cultivation, the potential and market opportunities of orchid business development, and to design a model for community empowerment in the development of an orchid business. This research was conducted in the Kalurahan Ngestiharjo Kapanewon Kasihan, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region Province in February 2021-May 2021. The research method used was descriptive with the selection of informants carried out purposively. Orchid cultivation technology, potential and market opportunities are the parameters in this study. Data analysis includes recapitulation, classification, benchmarking, data presentation and empowerment planning. The results of benchmarking, cultivation technology that has been well applied in Ami Orchid are planting, watering, fertilizing, and controlling pests and diseases. For cultivation technology that has not been applied in Ami Orchid, namely crosses, and nurseries cannot be produced alone. The potential that can be utilized to develop the Ami Orchid business is crossing and producing its own seeds to increase the quality and quantity of orchid plants. Opportunities that can become a market for orchids are by providing bottled orchid seeds, leasing orchid plants to hotels, offices, and banks as well as selling orchid plant training services. For an area of 100m2 the R/C ratio of orchid business is 3.13. The development of the orchid business is carried out by designing an orchid business model through the Bussines Model Canvas (BMC), community participation and providing information on effective and efficient orchid cultivation technology, especially in orchid planting and care.
