ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the physiological motivation, sociological motivation, and self-actualization motivation of farmers in utilizing cow dung into solid organic fertilizer. This study was conducted in Brajan village, Prambanan sub-district, Klaten district, Central Java from November 2020 to June 2021. The research method used was descriptive quantitative. The results of the study showed that the physiological motivation variable was 68.3% (moderate) included in the moderate category, the sociological motivation variable was 71.3% (medium) included in the medium category and the selfactualization motivation variable was 71% with the moderately motivated category. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the motivation of farmers in the use of cow dung into solid organic fertilizer is known to be 70.7% in the medium category. This means that the motivation of farmers in the Mulyo Farmer's Group in Brajan Village needs to be improved so that farmers are enthusiastic and encouraged to use cow dung into solid organic fertilizer. Based on the results of the extension, there was an increase in the knowledge aspect of 39.7% and the attitude of farmers in making compost from cow dung by 30.6% and it was hoped that farmers could use cow dung into organic fertilizer (compost).
