ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the level of physiological motivation, sociological motivation, self-actualization motivation and motivation of farmers in the application of the tajarwo system in lowland rice. This study was conducted in Padang Loang Village, China District, Bone Regency, South Sulawesi, from November 2020 to June 2021. The research method used was descriptive quantitative. The results of the study showed that the physiological motivation variable was 65.87% (medium) included in the medium category, the sociological motivation variable was 61.74% (medium) included in the medium category and the self-actualization motivation variable was 49.86% (low) with low category. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the motivation of farmers in the application of the tajarwo system in lowland rice is known to be 59.15% in the medium category. This means that the motivation of farmers in the Benteng 1 Group in Padang Loang Village needs to be further improved so that farmers are willing and able to implement the tajarwo system properly and can completely switch from the direct seed sowing system to the tajarwo system.
